Removing your data from brokers
How Frame searches data brokers for you, how to opt out yourself today, and what changes when Frame can send requests for you.
Data brokers collect and sell personal details like your name, address, phone number and relatives. The Removal screen is where you find those listings and ask brokers to delete them.
Frame searches brokers for you
Choose Search brokers now on the Removal screen. Frame searches each broker’s own site for a listing with your name and where you live, and Broker by broker shows what it found. If a broker shows someone with your name but Frame can’t tell if it’s you, the listing waits under “Is this you?” with a private picture of the page, kept only for you and deleted once you answer (or after 30 days). Choose Yes, that’s me or Not me.
Today: you send the opt-outs
Frame doesn’t send removal requests for you yet. A listing you confirm is marked as listed, and nothing is sent to the broker. To remove it:
- Open Step-by-step opt-outs and pick the broker.
- Follow the broker’s own opt-out page.
- Choose I sent it. Frame records the status and reminds you when to check again.
Free includes guides for the top 25 brokers. Frame Plus opens guides for every broker in Frame’s catalog. You can also track a request to a company that isn’t in the catalog.
When Frame can send requests for you
- Frame searches each broker first and only asks for a removal where it finds a listing that may be you. A possible match waits for you to confirm it’s you.
- Requests go out under your signed letter of authorization (Settings → Legal forms). Nothing is sent until you sign it, and you can revoke it any time.
- By default Frame sends only your name and location. Contact details are sent only if you allow them for removals.
- Each request cites the privacy law where you live: PIPEDA, Quebec’s Law 25, the CCPA/CPRA, the GDPR or the UK GDPR.
Steps only you can do
Some brokers need you to finish the request: confirming an email they send you, solving a check Frame can’t answer, mailing a letter or making a call. Frame prepares the letter or the script and lists those requests under Steps only you can do. Frame never uploads ID documents for you.
How long it takes
Brokers set their own pace. Laws give them a deadline: 30 days under Law 25, 45 days under the CCPA, one month under the GDPR. When a re-check is due, Frame asks whether the listing is still gone. Choose It’s gone or It’s back. A listing that returns is marked Re-listed so you can send the opt-out again.
Living in California?
Start with DROP, California’s free Delete Request and Opt-out Platform. One request reaches every registered data broker, and they must process it within 45 days. You file it yourself on the DROP site with a California Identity Gateway sign-in. Frame never charges for it.
