California’s DROP: one request for every registered broker
If you live in California, DROP lets you ask every registered data broker to delete your information in one free request.
What DROP is
DROP is California’s free Delete Request and Opt-out Platform. One request reaches every data broker registered in California, and they must process it within 45 days.
File it
- Open Removal in Frame and choose Open DROP, or go straight to the DROP site.
- Sign in with a California Identity Gateway account.
- Enter the details you want brokers to match and submit the request.
- Back in Frame, choose I filed it. Frame shows Tracking your DROP request.
Good to know
- DROP is free. Frame never charges for it.
- It covers registered brokers only. Keep using Frame’s guides for sites that aren’t registered.
- Questions about DROP itself go to the California Privacy Protection Agency.
