Install the browser extension

Install Frame for Firefox from Mozilla Add-ons, or load it in Chrome, Brave or Edge. It works with no account.

No account needed

The extension’s protections work as soon as it’s installed, with no account. When you’re signed out, Frame’s servers receive nothing from it. It doesn’t make you anonymous, and it isn’t a VPN.

Firefox

  1. Open Frame on Firefox Add-ons.
  2. Choose Add to Firefox and review the permissions it asks for.
  3. Pin Frame from the extensions menu so the popup is one click away.

Chrome, Brave and Edge

Frame isn’t in the Chrome Web Store yet, so you load a local build from the public source:

  1. Clone the repository, then run npm install and npm run build.
  2. Open chrome://extensions, edge://extensions or brave://extensions.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the .output/chrome-mv3 folder.

Signing in (optional)

Sign in from the popup and approve it on the connect page. The popup then shows your Privacy Score and open findings. Disconnect it any time in Settings → Sign-in and security.

More

Every permission is explained on the extension page.
