Replies, spam and limits for aliases
What happens when you reply to forwarded mail, how spam is handled, and the size limit for messages sent to an alias.
Replying
When you reply to forwarded mail, your reply goes straight to the sender from your real address. That reveals your real email to them. Replying as the alias isn’t available yet, so for sites you don’t trust, don’t reply from the forwarded message.
Spam
Mail flagged as malicious or spam before it reaches Frame is dropped. Everything else is forwarded, and your own inbox’s filters do the rest. If one alias starts getting spam, turn it off or delete it.
Size limit
Messages over 10 MB sent to an alias are rejected and the sender gets a bounce.
When aliases are paused
If Email aliases says email aliases aren’t available right now, your existing aliases are still listed but changes are paused. Try again later.
Good habits
- Use one alias per site, with a label.
- Keep your real address for people, banks and government services.
- Check Used on now and then, and delete aliases you no longer need.
